The bull market that started in 2009 is now over nine years old in duration. Many investors have substantial unrealized gains or portfolios that should be rebalanced in order to mitigate risk. But the question always arises: "When should I sell?" Covered call writing is one method that investors can use to exit stock positions with discipline. The strategy takes the guesswork out of when to sell and increases portfolio returns, ceteris paribus. Join us for this one-hour presentation on covered call writing presented by Thomas McDevitt, CFA, CFP, EA. You will learn the "ins and outs" of covered call writing and will leave the presentation with all the tools and knowledge necessary to implement this strategy with your own investments.
- Review the basics of option pricing models
- Examine risk management concepts as they pertain to call options
- Calculate net gain or net loss from option positions
