The baby-boomer generation is rapidly approaching retirement, but an alarming number of baby-boomer led firms have failed to address this reality with a formal succession plan. In this course, we will develop a framework to overcome forces that negatively influence the transition of power in small to medium-sized businesses. More specifically, we will examine: talent management practices/policies, transition management techniques, exit strategies and more!
In our afternoon session, the focus shifts towards a process orientation with an emphasis on how business owners should grow, protect and successfully exit from their business. Our speakers will share a comprehensive process to explore with your business owner clients that can be customized for each of their unique goals and personal situations. Next our presenters will discuss how to take your clients through a series of very complicated and emotional decisions; while providing a well thought out process that will allow the business owner to successfully execute, what is most likely the largest financial transaction of their life.
- Review techniques for identifying future leaders
- Select/recommend employment practices that are linked to higher retention rates
- Identify strategic exit options and tailor recommendations to the target firm characteristics
