I. Morning Session: Ethics Potpourri

This CLE/CPE will examine recent developments in accounting, legal, tax, and business ethics.  We will focus on recent pronouncements of the AICPA and ABA as well as other authoritative guidance. Topics may include data privacy and cybersecurity in the context of the coronavirus pandemic, non attest services provided by CPAs, representations adverse to former prospective legal clients, and recent discussions about the roles of diversity and sustainability in business ethics, corporate culture, and corporate social responsibility. Our course will include:

  • Review recent AICPA guidance on non-attest services.
  • Identify ethical issues posed by working from home during the coronavirus pandemic.
  • Analyze recent ABA guidance on representation adverse to former prospective clients.
II. Afternoon Session: The New Return on Individuals

Segment 1 - Introduction to the New Return on Individuals
Do you believe that people are an organization's most valuable asset? During this segment, we'll review the "New ROI" concept and how management teams tend to undervalue what is arguably the most valuable asset of any firm.  

Segment 2 - How to Align and Inspire Any Team: Practical Team-Building Methods for Attorneys, Accountants, and All Professional Services Firms
Building upon our New ROI segment, Al Cini will discuss firm-level team and culture alignment. In module two, we will discuss strategic engagement management concepts, as well as implementation techniques to increase workforce productivity. 

Segment 3 - Talent Intelligence in the Post-Pandemic World
Why guess when you can measure? At a time when most business strategies have changed, we will examine how to empower organizations to align around analytics, not opinions—learn how predictive analytics can be utilized to predict hidden vulnerabilities impacting your bottom line, as well as predict the workplace behaviors that matter most for getting results from your people.

Morning Session:
Jonathan D. Grossberg, J.D., LL.M. (Taxation) is a licensed attorney in Pennsylvania and New York.  Jonathan currently lives in Wynnewood, PA.  Until August, he was assistant professor of taxation at Robert Morris University (RMU) in Moon Township, PA.  At RMU, Jonathan taught Taxes II to undergraduate accounting students and tax research, corporate tax, and international tax to graduate students in the master of science in taxation program.  Before entering academia, Jonathan clerked for Judge Gale of the U.S. Tax Court and practiced tax law at Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP in Philadelphia and Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP in New York.  Jonathan has written articles for academic and practitioner publications and made CLE/CPE presentations to lawyers and accountants on a variety of topics including judicial doctrines in tax law, partnership tax, tax issues facing small businesses, and universal basic income, among other topics. Jonathan D. Grossberg is an active member of the Accountant-Lawyer Alliance (ALA).  He serves as a Speciality Leader in the ALA’s Tax and Compliance LinkedIn Group, where he acts as a subject matter expert, content moderator, and liaison with the business community.  He periodically lectures on tax topics in the ALA’s continuing education programs for certified public accountants and attorneys.  Jonathan also serves as a member of the ALA’s Advisory Board.
