In the final semester of most MBA programs students are required to take an "MBA capstone" course, which integrates the understanding from all the key functional areas in business (accounting, finance, economics, marketing, and management). Consistent with this tradition, we have designed one of our most exciting course offerings yet: "Principles of Management". In this course, Richard S. Brown, PhD, will introduce frameworks and principles that serve as a foundation for business decision-making. Harvard Business School case studies will be utilized to illustrate the following key managerial topics: Sustainable Competitive Advantage, Deal Synergies, Transaction Cost Economics, Dynamic Capabilities, Porter's Five Forces, and Value Chain Analysis.
- Examine core theories in management
- Review frameworks and principles that serve as a foundation for business decision-making
- Study analytical frameworks that drive competitive advantage
