In order to make effective decisions for their companies, top managers must master the art of competitive intelligence. Competitive intelligence (CI) is the action of defining, gathering, analyzing and distributing intelligence about products, customers, competitors and any aspect of the environment needed to support executives and managers making strategic decisions for an organization. This course will discuss these aspects, including industry structure, competitor selection, comparative competitor metrics (i.e. Benchmarking), and corporate espionage.

This class should help in understanding the basis for effective corporate decision-making in both large and medium sized firms.

The Presenter:
Dr. Ridgley is Assistant Professor of Strategic Management and International Business at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He holds a Doctorate and Masters in International Relations from Duke University and an International MBA from Temple University.

He has also studied at Moscow State University and the Institut de Gestion Sociale in Paris. Dr. Ridgley is a former Military Intelligence Officer and served five years in West Berlin and near the Czech-German border, where he received the George S. Patton Award for Leadership from the 7th Army Academy in Bad Toelz, West Germany.
